Sinusitis

The swelling or inflammation of the tissue lining the sinuses is known as sinusitis. Mucus produced by the sinuses keeps the inside of your nose moist. Consequently, that aids in defense against pollutants, dust, and allergies.

Air is present in healthy sinuses. However, bacteria can proliferate and create an infection when they become clogged and filled with fluid.

Sinus obstruction can result from the following conditions:

  • The common cold
  • Allergic rhinitis, which is swelling of the lining of the nose caused by allergens
  • Small growths in the lining of the nose called nasal polyps
  • A deviated septum, which is when the nasal cavity is crooked

Your sinuses are empty spaces in your skull. You have four pairs of sinuses for a total of eight. The pairs are found:

  • Above your eyes
  • Between your eyess
  • Behind your nose
  • Under your eyes, behind your cheeks

Sinusitis comes in different types. Your doctor will frequently identify the type based on how long your symptoms have been present. The reason of your sinusitis will also determine your kind. Come with me as we examine.
